about

I have a tendency to look to nature for comfort when I'm upset. I recorded my CD at the foot of the Shenandoah Mountains of Virginia. During the course of recording I was going through a break up that sent me up a mountain called Old Rag. This song came from that.

lyrics

Half past eleven this morning the last straw fell
With a word, goodbye, you opened the doorway to hell
You might as well run me through with a cold steel blade
Oh Shenandoah Mountains get ready, I'm running away

I'll hide in these hills until it's safe to come down
And face all my devils in the valley
I'm told there's a lesson to be learned in love
But I'm tired of learning the hard way
I'll drop my line in the water
And wait for my soul to heal
Until I'm strong again, I'll hide in these hills

These trees don't care if a grown man cries
And this rage that I'm feeling is no threat to the sky
I'll fill up my empty heart with a mountain view
There's plenty of room here to lose my memory of you

You'd have me believe that I can't survive on my own
But up here in these mountains I know I can make it alone
